As part of the Scholarship Award event each year we have established a Masterclass programme. Our aim is to professionally record these with the aim of making them available to the wider alumni community internationally – both to enable alumni to access the latest in Cranfield teachings – as well as to raise funds to fund the Masterclass filming and support our scholarship fund raising activities.

For those of you who pre-date Stephen’s time at Cranfield, he was considered to be an outstanding lecturer – “a God” was the way one Sydney Alumni described him to me.

There are two DVD’s – each about 40 minutes.

The first DVD covers the evolution of strategy from the fomulaic models of the 80′s based on Porter, through to a more complex view of strategy as an interaction between the basic drivers of the industry, what the customer opportunity is and where the enterprise’s talents lie. These are illustrated with Case Examples of where the businesses got it very right – and badly and sadly wrong.

The second DVD focusses on a De Beers case study. Stephen also discusses Cranfield’s influential role in the evolution of strategy development, as well as spicing things up, in a very low key conversational way, with fond but dry digs at: Gerry Johnson, Malcolm Macdonald, McKinseys and more.

The DVD’s have been professionally filmed and produced so they are both entertaining and informative and at 40 minutes each, an evening’s education.
